Carle Place Overview:
Carle Place is a charming Hamlet located in Nassau County, NY that has a long established history.  The community was named after the 32 room home of Silas Carle called "Carle Place," and was developed by William J. Levitt in 1946 as an experiment.  Levitt originally bought 19 acres of land around Mr. Carle's home and built 600 houses surrounding the Carle Place Rail Road station. Levitt's experiment was so successful (the population increased 500% over 5 years) that he used it as the model for his greatest achievement, the building of Levittown a few years later.

Carle Place has its own Union Free school district, which also includes parts of Westbury and Mineola. However, it is still one of the smallest School Districts in New York State. All three schools, Cherry Lane, Rushmore, and Carle Place Middle/High School adjoin each other on one campus.

With its manicured lawns, tree-lined streets, top ranking school district and well-maintained, Colonials, Cape Cods, Split Levels and new construction homes this hamlet has consistently been a desirable neighborhood for commuters, and for those seeking more affordable housing than in the neighboring towns of Garden City or Old Westbury.
